Doesn't heating the hook to red hot take all the temper out

I wonder about that too... I've taken the torch out on occasion with less than glowing results (har har ). BTW, only use the torch in the garage; the mrs don't care much for them in the living room.

Now what's this Crossbow thing?? *suspicious* Getting across the Bow the no easy task!

LOL, yeah, big fish haven't been a problem for me either. But, no, tempering the hook hasn't caused any breakoffs...these fish average a solid 20" plus, and weigh 3# and up. FTIR

Be careful when heating them up to much. I avoid getting them red hot. They break to easy after they have been heated to red hot.

The hooks don't have to be red hot to melt the bead into place.

Couple years ago I really got into these too. Bought the glue gun and a bunch of diff color glue sticks...orange to pink.

Never did squat with them though. Fished a bunch of egg bites like L Sac, McCloud, Yuba, etc. and never really had them work better than simple glo bugs.

Last year fishing some slow water behind some spawners I saw why. Glo bugs float around rocks. They float with the current. LOVE that cause you can throw a lot of split on there and still not snag up.

Basically I figured that the glue eggs don't float right. Real eggs start on the bottom and then swirl around down there right? Glue eggs get to the bottom quickly but are too heavy to swirl around correctly.

Makes sense? Probably wrong about this, but yarn eggs always did a lot better for me and this is the theory i came up with.

Glue DOES make one heck of a head for egg sucking leaches though....
